Children's Education

With Children, Faith is Caught - Not Just Taught!
Loving adults and youth of Memorial are dedicated to passing on the wisdom of Jesus to children by word and example.  Our education programs for children revolve around Bible-based activities in an engaging and loving culture.

Below is the list of "regular" children's education opportunities.

Sunday Church School (Sept - Mid-May)
Our Sunday School (3 year olds through high school "Church Nerds") meets from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.  For pre-school through 4th grade children, the hour includes music time. 
The school year starts up on the Sunday after Labor Day and ends on Mother's Day Sunday. 

First through Sixth Grade children have a three or four week class with their parents sometime during the school year (see the "Confirmation Formation" page). 

Children’s Advent Liturgy
For the past two years the Sunday school children and youth have prepared and led a meaningful liturgy for the third Sunday of Advent.

Vacation Bible School 
Vacation Bible School is held in June each year. This is a two day program held on a Thursday and Friday with the children sharing what they learned during the church service on Sunday. Registration materials are avaiable in late April or early May of each spring. Programming is geared for 4 year olds through 4th grade with opportunites to serves as a youth helper for 5th grade and older.

Lutheran Lakeside Camp
Memorial children are encouraged to attend summer camp at Lutheran Lakeside camp near Spirit Lake. Each year the 7th grade confirmation class joins other confirmation students from around Iowa for a week at camp learning faith pracitice and enjoying camp activities. Camp registration information becomes available in January each year.
