Pr. Myron Herzberg

Myron Herzberg has been serving Lutheran congregations as a pastor for over thirty years. A native of Creston, IA, he has been pastor at Memorial since 1997. His work focuses on preaching, teaching, worship and music, pastoral care, administration, and spiritual formation. 

Pastor Myron has community connections with the Nevada Community Resource Center, Nevada Case Management, Leadership Nevada, and the City of Nevada Human Services Committee. He is a staff member of the national Grace Institute for Spiritual Formation, and is a frequent retreat leader and consultant to church councils. 

Pastor Herzberg is married to Kim Benton-Herzberg, a clinical social worker in private practice. They have two young adult children, Max and Lydia.



Pr. David Burling


David Burling was ordained into the ministry in 1987. Early in his career, he served parishes in Wisconsin and northern Iowa. In 1993 Pr. Burling began the hospital chaplaincy program at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. He was called to Memorial Lutheran Church in 2003 as Associate Pastor.

Pastor Burling has a special interest in working with issues surrounding death and dying and its resulting grief. He volunteers as the chaplain for the Nevada Police Department.

Pastor Burling and his wife, Chris, are the parents of two young adult sons, Joshua and Benjamin.  

Pr. Bob Edwards

Visitation Pastor

Pastor Edwards makes visits to Memorial's shut-ins, care center residents, and others in need of a pastoral visit. He offers a time of conversation, prayer and communion.


Deacon Jodi Schuman
Minister of Administration



Jodi Schuman has been a member of Memorial Lutheran Church since the fall of 1997 and served in the office since the fall of 2007. After completing candidacy as an Associate in Ministry in the ELCA Jodi was commissioned and installed at Memorial Lutheran Church in April, 2016. With a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and Iowa teaching certification, Jodi has work experience as a lab technician, bookkeeper, and teacher as well as various volunteer roles. Jodi also serves the larger church as the Treasurer of the Southeastern Iowa Synod of the ELCA.

Jodi and her husband, Bill, live in Nevada where Bill is a Program Manager in the Information Technology field. Daughter Amanda lives in Plymouth, Mn and works in the information technology field.
